The Kentucky Wildcats is an athletic team of University of Kentucky. It got its name WildCat after a 6–2 football road victory over Illinois on October 9, 1909. Commandant Philip W. Corbusier, then head of the military department at old State University told a group of students in a service that the team played like wild cats and that where the name came into existence.
Since then, Kentucky Wildcats has bagged several laurels to its credit. After the glorious victory of NCAA National Championship trophy in 2012, the team became the kings of college basketball. The university adopted blue and white as its official colors in the year 1892. Earlier the UK students had decided on blue and light yellow prior to the Kentucky-Centre College football game on December 19, 1887. The shade of blue which is close to a royal blue was chosen. Since the jersey has adopted a particular shade of blue. A year later in 1888, UK students officially dropped the light yellow color over white because the two colors did not look good together.
