- The First Border War
While
you may grow up hating on the Missouri Tigers and relishing the
infamous Border War rivalry, it is possible that you do not much
about the First Border War. Held in Kansas City’s Exposition Park,
on the Missouri side of Kansas City, in 1891, the game saw the

4-0 early deposit to win the game 22-8.
- The Fight Song
“‘Cause
I’m a Jay, Jay, Jay, Jay, Jayhawk,
Up
at Lawrence on the Kaw–
‘Cause
I’m a Jay, Jay, Jay, Jay, Jayhawk,
With
a sis-boom, hip hoorah,…”
If
there is one thing that all Jayhawks fans should absolutely know
about, then it is this: the team’s iconic fight song. The song
titled “I’m a Jayhawk” was written by George Bowles in 1912 and
was first performed nationally by the University of Kansas Glee Club
in 1926.
- Crimson and Blue
Crimson
and blue are not just the school’s colors but are also the title of
their anthem.
“Lift
the chorus ever onward,
Crimson and the blue
Hail to thee, our Alma Mater
Hail to old KU.”
Crimson and the blue
Hail to thee, our Alma Mater
Hail to old KU.”
It
was written by George Barlow Penny in 1891, and has been in use ever
since. Also, did you know that the school’s colors were not
originally crimson and blue? They were maize and blue.
So,
these were some things that you - as a diehard Jayhawks fan - should
