While you may grow up hating on the Missouri Tigers and relishing the infamous Border War rivalry, it is possible that you do not much about the First Border War. Held in Kansas City’s Exposition Park, on the Missouri side of Kansas City, in 1891, the game saw the Jayhawks, who were led by star fullback Archie Hogg, come back from a 4-0 early deposit to win the game 22-8.

If there is one thing that all Jayhawks fans should absolutely know about, then it is this: the team’s iconic fight song. The song titled “I’m a Jayhawk” was written by George Bowles in 1912 and was first performed nationally by the University of Kansas Glee Club in 1926.
  1. Crimson and Blue
Crimson and blue are not just the school’s colors but are also the title of their anthem.
Lift the chorus ever onward,
Crimson and the blue
Hail to thee, our Alma Mater
Hail to old KU.”

It was written by George Barlow Penny in 1891, and has been in use ever since. Also, did you know that the school’s colors were not originally crimson and blue? They were maize and blue.
